Birding Extraordinaire
The herons are back in force! As are the sandhill cranes, cliff swallows, Canada geese, bald eagles and wood ducks, to name but a few. Crystalwood Lodge Bed and Breakfast of Klamath Falls, Oregon sits directly on the Pacific Flyway near Crater Lake and the Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge, thus affording our guests a "bird's-eye" view of both spring and fall migrations, wintering and nesting Bald and Golden Eagles, as well as the numerous species which call the Klamath Basin home year-round. Because of our unique combination of mountains, meadows, woods and wetlands, the diversity of bird species is stunning, perfect for serious life list birders as well as easily accessible for the casual bird watching enthusiast. Crystalwood Lodge is a featured premier birding site on TWO separate birding trails launched this summer: The Klamath Basin Birding Trail and the Oregon Cascades Birding Trail. Birders have identified hundreds of species over the summer, including the elusive Yellow Rails and a quite uncommon Least Flycatcher, seldom seen in Oregon. Come and see what all the excitement is about!

Briar's Patch Sled Dogs...Iditarod Bound 2008!
Liz's sled dog team, Briar's Patch Sled Dogs, has successfully qualified for Iditarod 2008, putting us one step closer to our dream of running the Iditarod with our own self-trained dog team. Now we need your help. Many supplies, lots of gear and much food is needed to successfully get the team to the finish line in Nome, and we would like you to consider making a donation or becoming a sponsor. For more information, you can also visit the kennel website at Briar's Patch Sled Dogs, or give a call at 541-892-3639.
